Oct 19, 2012 - Bellagio
Morning comes a little later here than we're used to, daylight starts to make a difference round 8:00am and because of how the motel is situated and the time of year the sun actually doesn't hit our room until mid afternoon. So right after breakfast we started our exploration of Bellagio. As we came out the font door of the motel a beautiful big muscle car pulled up, Mike started to dribble but it was waaaaay out of our league. We continued to walk down the road from our motel taking the long way to the harbour. It still didn't take long...

Oct 18, 2012 - Venice to Bellagio
Today we left Venice. The train wasn't due to leave until 11:00 am so after breakfast we went for a stroll and I finally got to have a photo taken with the pidgeons in St Marks Square. They are crafty and won't come near you unless you have food. We also made sure we got to ghe shops that had masks we liked and took photos of the windows. They really hate you taking photos and there are signs everywhere. There is one shop I call cranky lady but unfortunately it didn't help turning up this morning as the lights from across the lane made too...

Jun 9, 2012 - Day 9 Bellagio
Day 9 Visiting Bellagio and Lake Como First town we stopped at on our journey was Argegno. We first thought about taking the ferry to Bellagio from this town but there was only a 3-hour limit for parking and after our experience the day before we did not want to risk getting another parking ticket. We wandered around the town and got a gelato, which was delicious, and Stephen took some pictures. There was not a lot to see in the town and after we talked to another tourist we decided to head up the road to another small town where we could...

Apr 21, 2012 - Water Touring Lake Como
What a spectacular day! The sky was clear, the sun came out, and the rain stopped. It was a perfect day on Lake Como. Temperatures started in the low 60s in the morning and climbed to the mid-70s by mid afternoon. The sky stayed clear and the sun drenched everyone with welcome rays after 2 days of dreary, rainy cold. We met up with our tour guide Donald at 9:00 and walked with him down to the piazza where he gave us a little introductory talk, then we wound our way along the passarella along the lakeside to the ferry area. In the ferry area...

Jul 10, 2011 - Weekend in Bellagio
Saturday, July 9th & Sunday, July 10th After overnighting in Milan near the train station, we said ciao to Milan for two days and headed to Milan train station for an hour ride to Varenna and the Lake Como district. We encountered a second scam when a seemingly friendly fellow offered to order our tickets from the automatic booth. He quickly claimed our change for his efforts and we were too dumbfounded to protest. The train was a decrepit and crowded with weekenders and day-trippers, but once we got a glimpse of the lake we were rewarded....

Oct 5, 2010 - Bellagio, Lake Como, Italy
Tuesday, October 05, 2010. The sun is out!!!! Boy, have we missed the sun. We are seeing mountains we didn’t even know were there. The true beauty of Lake Como is finally here for us to enjoy. So we decided to explore Bellagio. The south end of the lake looks like the legs of a man walking (the legs are the water). One travel journal says that Bellagio is where the crotch would be. So we drove 26 miles down the outside of the eastern leg and up the inside of the leg where we found Bellagio. (This is getting strange.) We parked at the...

Jul 1, 2009 - Bellagio by day
This is what we saw when we woke up today: Since we heard the view could get even better, we saw two gardens today. The first was the Melzi Garden. Take a look: Melzi Garden is right on the lake shore and many famous people used to visit, including Napoleon. Lisa thought the gazebo, with the Alps in the background, looked like it was from the Sound of Music, and then she saw a statue that looked like Mr. von Trapp. Lisa likes Mr. von Trapp. We then had our first pizza of the trip. I'm sure there will be more. Here was our...

May 29, 2009 - Bellagio
We had nothing planned for today, so we just wandered around the stairs and streets of Bellagio, avoiding some overpriced tourist gear but also the overpriced jewellery and clothes stores. Bellagio seems to have a lot of designer/couture (think Armani) stores in it, outnumbered only by its restaurants. Daryl thinks that if you tripped and fell over here, you'd probably land in a restaurant – they're everywhere and they all smell divine! We walked along the waterfront of lovely Lake Como to discover just how pristine the lake really is –...

May 27, 2009 - Bon Giorno Italy
Up early this morning so we could make the 7am cable car down to Lauterbrunnen, for the start of our train ride to Italy. Lucky for us, the ticket office isn't open that early so for the 2nd time, we scored a free cable car ride! We started chatting with an American, Eric, who was also on his way to Como, which was where we got off the train and onto the boat for Bellagio, so we ended up travelling most of the way with him. He was very friendly – backpacking around for 3 weeks – 2 in Switzerland and 1 in Italy. He made us look like we...

Jun 2, 2008 - Lake Como
Ciao, everyone. Well, I just got to Venice, but yesterday was such a fun day! We got a ferry pass for the day and went around all of the ports on Lake Como. If that sounds familiar to any of you George Clooney fans, that is where he lives for most of the year. We kept yelling for him, but he never came out of hiding. There were mixed opinions of him with the locals. Most people said that he was really nice and hangs out with the people that live there really casually. These two 13 year old boys that we met on the bus proclaimed that he is...

Dec 27, 2007 - Lake Como
We did a little trip from Bergamo to Lake Como. (A little note for Tony, we went past the Moto Guzzi factory). Lake Como is (I think?), the thrid largest lakes in Europe. We went out on a boat to Bellagio and saw all the little towns around the lake and to the Alps. It was all very pretty and very cold. So after a coffee, it was back to Bergamo!

Jun 30, 2007 - Varenna
On Saturday, we spent some time on the beach in menaggio, but soon got bored and some of us broke off to find lunch and explore in a small town not too far away called Varenna. It was only about a twenty minute ferry ride, and food was no problem- we almost immediately found the place that Rick Steve had reccomended in his Italy guidebook and had a lovely luch right by the water.
