A new day for a bike ride to Agropoli about 7k’s away. Oh, the side roads were filled with garbage which really reminded me of the time I spent in the Phillipines. Agropoli was a beautiful seaside resort which went up an embankment. We walked around the top of the hill and saw a tremendous view of the Med Sea, a marina with probably over 3 million dollars worth of boats. April 25 - Along the coast to Paestum Before we left our rural lodgings in Agerola, we were treated to apple cake for breakfast and a bag of walnuts, 'noci de Sorrento', by Nicolo, our host. The walnuts grow on trees in his courtyard but, Nicolo told us, are no longer a viable crop because cheaper and " lower quality" Californian walnuts have replaced them in the local stores. The family gathers some for their personal use, but the rest drop to the ground and rot in the winter damp. Gathering them, Nicolo said, is labour-intensive. Someone...
