Sep 19, 2007 - Cinque Terre to Como

Woke up at 6:30am. The wind is still quite strong, but the blue sky is back. On to my driving adventure sans navigator. The road to La Spezia wound around by Riomaggiore, so I got one last shot of the coastline. From La Spezia up through Parma there were lots of tunnels. Then I hit traffic on the A1 leading towards Milan. I veered off towards Bergamo, hoping for better luck, but the traffic followed me. There is a lot of roadwork going on as well, so constant shuffling of lanes and such. Once I got off the autostrade to head towards Como,...

Sep 7, 2007 - Vertheuil to Bergamo

Up early to tidy up the house, water the plants and pack for my departure. It was about an hour's drive to Bordeaux airport, with 1 last beautiful chateau to pass by near Listrac -- I'll have to visit again so that I can take a picture of that one! Ooops, apparently, that should be Catherine the Magnificent. When Cat touched down, she contacted us. We had already arranged with whatever her name was to pick her up. She asked if Biff wanted to go with her, so she agreed. After all, it would be much easier for her to pick Cat out of the crowd than X-name. We got to the airport, parked in a 15 minute parking space and walked directly into the...

Nov 16, 2006 - Dublin via Bergamo

Left my luggage at the hostel and headed over to the Duomo in Milan. Nice church. Went inside and spent an hour looking around at all the stuff inside. Went over to the mall next door and saw a very fancy mcdonalds across from a prada store. Beautiful building. Made my way back to the hostel as it was starting to rain. Caught the metro to the train station and found a bus going out to my airport. Spent the day just hanging out at the airport because I just wanted to get back to ireland at this point. My plane of course ended up being late...
