Rome is fantasties. So ver is dit een van my gunstelinge. Ons het vanoggend 'n uur en half historical walking tour gedoen. Was regtig interessant. Alles van ancient Rome gehoor. Toe is ons op ons eie. Is deur die Colosseum gewees....WOW. Eers gaan lunch. En ja...ons het weer pasta geeet...when in Rome... Toe vir nagereg roomys... Italiaanse roomys! En toe Vatikaanstad toe. Dit was omtrent 'n belewenis. Ons doodgeloop, maar nou ja. Was by die Sistine chapel en ook by St Peter's Basilica. Ek het my oe uitgekyk. Alles is geverf en versier. Die...

Jun 6, 2008 - Rome

On arrival in the afternoon we did a quick walk around to get a glimpse of everything. Saw the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountain which was really nice on the sunny day that it was. One girls got lost but was smart enough to go straight to the Pantheon which we were evetually heading to. Saw the Imperial forum, the Collusseum from the outside and the Circus maximus(chariot racing area). Straight to bed that night coz we didn't check in til after 10.30pm. The next day we got dropped at the Vatican. Amazing art work all through, leading...

Mel's Contiki Tour

May 15, 2008 - Rome

first thing i have to say is the traffic here is a nightmare! DO NOT hire a car and try to drive it here. the italians are renowned for pushing in, and when the do it with cars and mopeds it pretty scary. they don't really stick to lanes, obay traffic lights or give way. be very carful crossing at a pedestrian crossing. i did an imperial rome tour yesterday, ending in the coloseum, that was very interesting. it was a bit trippy being inside THE coloseum. bummer it was raining in the avo. today i went to the vatican museams, that was good....

May 8, 2008 - Arrival in Rome

So after 26 hours of travelling (no wonder we were tired!) we finally arrived in Rome. I'm not sure we will use frequent flyer points to travel Europe again - we had no say in the route, which was long, with no chance to stop over on the way. But our fear of having to travel through the black hole of Heathrow's Terminal 5 proved unfounded. We breathed a sigh of relief as our bags tumbled onto the carousel at Rome airport. Just an interesting story from our flight from Singapore - across the aisle from us was a man who must have dosed up big...

Bernie's Europe2007

Aug 30, 2007 - Were in Rome, Italy!!!

With a 4:30am wake up call, we were off to catch our metro, bus, and then plane to Rome, Italy. Overall everything went smoothly today other then our flight being slightly delayed on RyanAir. Given that it's a low budget inter-country airline its on a first come first serve basis for seating. The melting pot of different nationalities and languages all scurried around trying to guess what gate the plane would arrive in. Being such a small airport outside of the city, it was rather frustrating with all the pushing and shoving. Nevertheless,...

Jun 30, 2007 - Romantic Roma

Just when you think something is so far away in time, it actually is closer than you think. The whole idea of travelling overseas after going in 2005 spawns from the terrible year that 2006 had brought. In saying that, l mean that after battling cancer for a good part of the year, this was in fact a celebration of life and we had owed ourselves this trip as a reward for surviving. Fast forward to now.......... Not only is it a pleasure to travel with your partner of life but to see this part of the world with 9 of your best friends is a...
