We left Tuscany and headed into Umbria the land of forts - most hilltops and small towns were guarded by a fort that had been there for 2000 years. Incredible history and sights for someone who was born in a country that has only 220 years of settlement. Orvieto was our first stop. On the way we found Etruscan burial sites near Sorano Necropoli di San Rocco, they carved a 6 pillar Greek style monument out of the rock. Jun 16, 2006 - Cinque Terre - June 14-19

Cinque Terre - June 14-19 We caught the train to La Spezia with one transfer in Pisa. Once we got to La Spezia we caught another train to the villages. If you have never been here - make an effort. It is beautiful and restful. There is nothing "to see" as far as sites, but the sea is all I need for now. After the hustle and bustle of the cities, this place is a welcome spot for chilling.
