Jul 15, 2009 - Roma/Brescia - Santana Concert - Leg 1 1/2

Rome - A.M. Vatican Tour in the a.m. Santana in the p.m. What a great day!! Vatican Museum - amazing sculptures, tapestry from 1600's, maps, fresco works!! Sistine Chapel - what can I say other than 'res ipsa loquitur': latin for 'the thing speaks for itself'. The Last Judgment still gives me nightmares! St. Peter's Basilica - the pinnacle of excess by the Catholic Church! However, Michaelangelo's Pieta makes one weep. Jun 11, 2006 - A Day At The Races

On my second day with my new family, we pile into the family Alpha and head down the valley to see Giorgio bike racing. There are dozens of little people with all the kit and cute little bikes all buzzing around warming up when we arrive. Giorgio is already in his kit and quickly gets into warm up mode. Decided to skipVerona in favour of splasing around in the pool at Camping Francesca, a 4 star camp ground on Lake Garda near Sirmione. Spent a day in Sirmione another classic old town with a special history and the ruins of an old Roman Villa. To compensate for not having bothered with the very expensive gondala rides in Venice we took a spin...

Bergamo is a perfect mix of new and old, with its mediaeval fortressed citta alta up on the hill overlooking the more modern citta bassa. There were plenty of wide,...
