Nov 3, 2010 - School???
Nothing really happened the last few days. Just school. It was a lazy 2 day week. I mostly went through the days in a daze, just goin with the flow and eatin my fair share of chocolate (delicious but also... gross!) I really need to get my hair cut. I want to get somethin funky done with the cut and color and want to just let the stylist do whatever they want but I am nervous that I will come out with something terrible and unmanageable, or totally not my style. I want to go to a really funky/hip place and get something weird but awesome...Jump to full entry
Nov 1, 2010 - Lazy dayz
Yesterday We woke up early and left our strange Twilight Zone, 70's blast from the past hotel to head to Milan. I got dropped off at the train station and left the group, kind of reluctantly (after having an aweosme dignified discussion about health care last night at dinner I didnt want to leave!). I then had to figure out how I was getting home that day. I sat at the ticket booth for awhile deciding if I wanted to pay 30 more euros to take a 3 hour train ride or pay less for the 7 hour train ride. I ended up going with the 3 hour one...Jump to full entry
Jul 17, 2010 - Heart of Europe Tour- Part 1
This entry is made by a very exhausted traveller. There is so much I want to take in about Rome. However Rome wasn’t built in a day and nor is my ability to take in it’s vast history. The first day I got myself orientated to the city. Much to my horror I caught a red hop on hop off tour bus purely out of necessity to see the major sights rather than taking the role of common tourist. I was taken back by the size of the Coliseum. I am struggling to find words worthy of describing Vatican City. It’s ornate and extravagant beauty is unmatched....Jump to full entry
Apr 21, 2010 - One more night in Roma.
Well, I'm now staying on Rome one more night, departing Thursday. I made my way to Rome airport today, with e-ticket in hand only to be told that my booking was not received. That's after standing in line for 1.5 hrs!!! Further enquiries made through the airline ticketing office revealed that the booking was made, then later cancelled by the same bookin agency. So much for being emailed an e-ticketFy confirming my flight with a booking confirmation number and telling me credit card has been charged. How pissed off do u think I was??? More...Jump to full entry
Apr 20, 2010 - Loving Roma!!! ++ Update (April 21st) ++
Hey all. Viva La Roma!!! I'm loving Roma. Walked to the Colosseum on sunday (ten minutes down the road) and had a guided tour. Yesterday (Monday) I had a generally quiet day sorting out possible transport to Paris. Lined up at the train station for nearly two hours only to be told that there are no available seats on trains to Northern Europe until next Monday. Except for yesterday, the weather has been fantastic here, averaging around 25 degrees in the middle of the day. We got hit by a huge thunderstorm late yesterday (Monday) afternoon...Jump to full entry
Apr 18, 2010 - I made it to Rome - eventually !!!
Well here I am. My unplanned trip to Rome. Left Bangkok yesterday at 0030hrs. Had an 11hr flight to Athens. Only just made the next flight (by 50 minutes) due to flight being delayed in Bangkok. Departed Athens this morning with Aegean Air (Greek Domestic Airline) and arrived in Rome around 10am. I was lucky $$$ wise. The trip from Bangkok to Athens only cost be a $200 last minute alteration fee associated with my round the world ticket. My flat mate Andy managed to get me a cheap flight ($150) from Athens to Rome on-line. Thanks again...Jump to full entry
Aug 10, 2009 - Ciao
Bounjorno, to all my Italian family and friends. After spending 5 days in Italy one can begin to think he is Italian. To recap out travels since our last visit we took the overnight train from Vienna to Veneto (Venice), spent to days in there before heading to Firenze (Florence) for another 2 days. Today we have arrived in Roma (Rome). So lets get started. The overnight train was interesting. A couchette is the name of a rail car with sleeping quarters. This to be 6 people sleeping in a compartment, the size of a 6x4 room. There were three...Jump to full entry
May 14, 2009 - Riomaggiore & Roma
May 9, 2009 - ... in Roma!
GREETINGS FROM ROMA! My flights were uneventful... with on time arrivals and departures! Upon my arrival in Rome, I met others travelling into the city and staying at the same accommodation, so we took a taxi, and in no time I was unpacking and getting my walking shoes on. (By the way, I am just a street away, on Via Candia, from the Vatican Museums-- and my apartment looks like IKEA. I even have our 'Island Cottage' water glasses, Emily and Kennah.) I walked around the Vatican wall to St. Peter's Square (Piazza San Pietro). It was quiet...Jump to full entry
Mar 30, 2009 - Rome, Italy
Ciao! I had a FABulous weekend in Rome; it was great weather with great company. We left Friday morning, so we could have dinner at the Montarina Thursday night haha Thursday night is pasta night and you really don't want to miss that. Friday we woke up really early to catch the first train of the morning, and arrived in Rome by noon. Even with having to find the hotel and figuring out the metro system we were out sightseeing by 2pm. Friday afternoon we went on a little tour the owner of the hotel suggested. The service from the hotel was...Jump to full entry
Mar 25, 2009 - Firenze
Mike and spent three wonderful, romantic days in Florence. Unlike Rome, Florence was more authentically Italy. The food was fantastic. The best ghocci I have ever had in my life. The city lies on the River Arno, and just across the old bridge, you can really experience a taste of Tuscany. On our first day, we walked though the famous vendors market, and took photos of the beautiful Duomo. Florence is known as the “cradle of Renaissance” for its monuments, churches and buildings and this was very apparent. Every where you turn there is...Jump to full entry
Mar 21, 2009 - Rome!
Mike and I just spent three wonderful days in the city of Rome. The food, the people, the art and the history were just amazing! We started our journey by looking for our hostel, which was about 15 mins from the train station on foot. The hostel was great, not the ritz mind you, but it was clean, served breakfast, and was full of other travelers that we are hopping to meet up with again along our journey! The first day was spent seeing some major landmarks: Colosseum,The Forum,The Capitol and the Vittoriano. Mike particularly enjoyed the...Jump to full entry
