Aug 27, 2005 - Ciao!!
I made it to Italy safe and sound after a long trip!! I had to catch a bus at 230 in the morning to get to the airport on time. I had a wonderful few days in London with my friend Drew (tons of walking!!), he has been a gracious host and very understanding. He went through a very similar situation when he studied abroad so it was nice to have him around to help me deal with the change, poor guy. Today was amazing, it has been so great to see Mita. I cant believe it has been four years since we last saw each other!!! It has been so much...

Jun 29, 2005 - Day 26 - Rejeka/Trieste/Koper
Weird day, off the boat at 7:15am. Straight to the bus station, trying to get to either Koper or Piran in Slovenia. Couldn't be done. We could, however, go straight through Slovenia, and end up in Trieste in Italy, and then get another bus back into Slovenia to Koper. This is what we planned. The next bus to Trieste was at 12:00pm, so we killed some time in Rejeka wandering, shopping, and lots of nice coffee. Eventually we were on our packed bus to Trieste. If your geography is strong, you will know that Slovenia at this point is only...

Mar 22, 2005 - Trieste
Trieste surprised us. It is grand, with wide avenues and miles of palaces and palazzos. No tourists. Lots of students. Lots of history. Nice people. Not a lot of hotel space, and we got the last room at the hotel again. It overlooks a busy square, with intercity buses dropping people off and picking up all night. The room though was great, very old hotel with ultramodern makeover. The wireless keypad in th room let us control the tv, or surf the internet, but very slowly. I was solicited as I walked to the train station one night to buy...

Dec 20, 2004 - Roveredo in Piano, Italy
We spent Sunday morning finally doing our laundry. We put it off as long as we could. I know! Thats gross! But we did wash things as we went but the pants were a little bit of a problem to wash in the sink. So jonathan took us over to the base so we could wash all of our stanky ass clothes! But then we got a full tour of all the base. On Sunday afternoon we went over to check out Trieste, Italy. Mom and her family lived there right after she was born. Aparently everyone else remembers what it was like and she didn't. So going to Trieste was...

Dec 10, 2004 - Lauren and I go to Trieste, Italy
Lauren and I decided that we couldn't bear another weekend in Spittal and decided to use the train tickets that Ben and I bought to Trieste, Italy. It is on the Adriatic Sea, right next to Slovenia and Croatia on the coast. It took us almost an entire day to get there, and by the time we got there it was dark. The nice woman at the hostel came to pick us up. When we booked online, the hostel address said "Trieste," but actually the hostel was about an hour away. 40 min. by train and then another 20 by bus or car. The hostel is actually in a...
