Our hotel, Grand Hotel Astoria, was located in the old town of Grado, Italy, which is an island which used to be apart of Venice. We could see the Adriatic Sea out of our hotel window. It was mostly windy and rainy but it was always beautiful. Our hotel served us breakfast and dinner each night. There was a large heated swimming pool inside that Anthony and I took full advantage of. Germany Life

Jul 21, 2009 - Aquileia & Grado, Italy

After our little taste of the seaside we decided to make our way to the beaches of Grado. I had read that Grado was a miniature version of Venice and Alessandra had recommended the Roman ruins of Aquillea which was on the way. So we were off to the beach with a little touring en route. Aquillea turned out to be this huge ruin of a port that was used for slaves and spices from Africa.
