Jul 5, 2010 - Too hot!
Today we went to the smaller beach positano which was more of a family atmosphere. So unfortunately, no zit popping to be seen. We laid out for a while but then called it an early day because it was so hot that when we got out of the water we instantly got sweaty. Also, the water at this beach had a lot of debris in the water so it was not nice to swim in. We went back to the hostel, had take away pizza and then went to bar internalional for a dessert.

Jul 4, 2010 - Capri!
Today we went on a day excursion to Capri, which is an island right off the coast of positano. We splurged for this pleasure but we all knew we couldn't lay on the beach for 3 days straight. We got on the boat at 9:30am and headed to Capri. We went to a couple caves along the coast of Capri and then we rode through the famous arch off the coast of the small marina. We saw the home of Sophia Loren and one of Tom cruise's villas on our way around the island. After that. We got to swim through a cave which was beautiful. The water was so clear...

Jul 3, 2010 - A day on the beach
Today we laid on the main beach of positano. I counted the stairs on our way up and it was over 700 stairs. We climb those twice a day. It is quite a workout! While we were laying onthe beach, we were also people watching. I am guessing that this beach must be a place that honeymooners come because there were people all of each other everywhere. Mind you, laying by myself, I was dripping sweat, I could not imagine having someone else touching me too. There was this one couple that was making out for a good half hour and then they started...

Aug 11, 2008 - Positano
Today we headed off to the infamous Positano that Mum and Rudi had told has so much about. Yesterday we discussed with the locals at the restaurant the best method of getting to Positano and they advised re a local bus at the end of our street. It leaves every 15 mins and takes about 20mins to get to Positano. So this is exactly what we did. Our stop (as luck would have it at the moment) was the last stop and of course there was standing room only. This was interesting as the streets to Positano are so windy and trying to stand upright...

Jul 5, 2008 - Amalfi Coast
Ravi -- The Amalfi Coast was spectacularly beautiful as promised! We picked Positano as the home base for our short time in this region. The first picture above shows this gorgeous city from a hilltop view down the street from our hostel. Note the terraced homes as the mountain-side slopes down towards the sea, and the domed church before hitting the small beach at the coast. Each city in the region mirrored Positano, a new one in each finger of the mountain that branched into the sea. It reminded me of another region of Italy I visited the...

Dec 29, 2007 - Positano
We enjoyed our trip to Positano, west of Amalfi. By this time we had almost gotten use to the narrow roads that jutted out over the sea, and began enjoying the views much more. Because of the steep, narrow streets down into the Plaza and beach at Positano, the bus stop was above the village and we had to walk down a long sidewalk overlooking the bay. Positano is the most upscale village on the coast and is noted for its design of swimsuits and women's dresses. At lunchtime we spotted, tucked into the rock-cliff, a pizza bakery. As we stood...

Sep 26, 2007 - Amalfi Coast Tour
We got picked up by Raul at 7am for our long tour of the Amalfi coast. He picked us up in a van and drove us there from Rome. It was a long way. Raul was a very nice guy but we didn't have an enjoyable trip in the van. I couldn't figure out the car seat (it was a real seat this time -- not a booster seat) and the seat belts didn't lock. So Josh had to use the real seat belts which was tough on him. Raul was a terrible driver. He was TOO conservative even for us. He drove so slow and missed several turnoffs and he had to backtrack to get...

Sep 25, 2007 - Sorrento to Positano
6.15am start and it is raining. Told you that Enzo the bus driver is drop dead gorgeous. Off on our bus to just out of Positano then on the small local bus down into Positano with my suitcase. Yip - a change of plans and I am in Postano - Hotel Bougainville - room with a balcony and a view. Excellent internet place here and as for the shopping - WOW! Must go & do some.

May 23, 2007 - Positano, Amalfi Coast
We were a bit disappointed with our stay in Positano. Our plan was to splurge on a super luxurious hotel to celebrate Pam's birthday. We couldn't get into either of the 5 star hotels and the 4 star hotel we had booked didn't live up to our expectations(or the price we paid!). It was a nice enough place but right on the busiest road in town so when you sat on your balcony looking at the amazing view, you were subjected to the noise and fumes from a non-stop parade of cars, buses and motorcycles. But we made the best of it and still managed...

May 15, 2005 - Day trip down the Amalfi Coast
Ah, so tired this morning- we slept in until almost 9:30, although I was awake since early that morning and had slept poorly once again.. I wish my body would just adjust already! We decided to go to Amalfi today, after taking a while to decipher the bus schedule. The trip was AMAZING- I can’t fathom how those driver do it- definitely a “keep your hands and arms inside the bus at all times” ride. At certain points we were mere inches from stone walls, and at other times the bus was practically teetering off a precipice over the...
