Nov 1, 2007 - Pescara

We have just arrived in Florence, after spending the last 3 days in a ghost town.(it fitted in quite well for halloween) We stayed in Montesilvano, which was just outside the city of Pescara. The area had very nice photos and it would have been really nice in summer, but with 3 days of solid rain and wind, the place turned out to be a bit of a hole,,,but good for a bit of r and r. Aug 12, 2005 - Trani, ITALY

Well, a little sidetrip ensued. We had emailed a friend of ours who lives in Italy (Beatrice stayed with us through the Hospitality Club for Christmas in 04) to see if she was home, and luckily she was, so instead of heading into Bosnia we bussed back down to Bar where we caught an overnight ferry to Bari where Beatrice met us and drove us 45 minutes north to her town Trani. She has a lovely 2 bedroomed apartment with peeps of the sea - its about 5 mins walk from beach where she swims each day. We drove downtown to book our way across to...

After about a 4 hour ride we were greeted at the train station by Giulana and Zia Cetina (John's Aunt, Grandmom Dirito's sister), and Aurelio (Giulana's 2 and a half year old son). Life is so easy when family is around! Giulana drove Pat and Rachel while John, Chris, and Dave faced certain death while riding in a taxi through the busy-traffic filled city of Pescara. We headed to Giulana and Sandro's house for lunch in FrancaVilla, a beautiful town right on the Adriatic Sea....

I head off this day to go and meet up with my new cousins in Pescara - on the coast. They were quite excited to learn about me and really wanted to meet me so I head off now to do that. I wanted to go via Perugia as I have heard that is a nice place so I head off in that direction. Perugia is quite a hilly town and I really just spend an hour or so there for a looksee. From there I program Pescara into the GPS and head off unbeknowns to me that I was about to head off in the direction of the snow covered Appenine Mountains - according to...
