Apr 29, 2017 - Starting home

We thought we would be home by Sunday, April 30th. We arrived at the airport, and the beginning of the flight was wonderful. Two hours over the polar ice cap, a decision was made to return to Dublin, as a passenger had a medical emergency. So, two hours back, and then for two more hours we sat on the plane, waiting for a decision to be made. We then were told (2 more hours) that the flight was cancelled. We had to leave the plane, get our luggage, and then be rebooked on a new flight, and housed for the night. 300 of us. Needless to say, we...

Apr 23, 2017 - Return to Dublin

We returned to Dublin, and had a lovely dinner with Mary's sister Helen. She is so generous with her time and her love. No pictures. Sorry. Met another one of Mary's childhood friends. It's wonderful to see lifelong friends. More common in Ireland, as families stay together more than in the US. Mary's family have been so welcoming and loving of us, and we so very much appreciate that.

Apr 23, 2017 - Change of Plans

After some serious discussion, we all agreed that this was the time to cancel our planned trip to Germany. I was sad to miss meeting the Sonnenstuhl's and see the buildings of Germany, but perhaps someday in the future this trip might happen. All in all, the decision was a good one, and we enjoyed our last few days in the Dublin area with family. It's a wonderful country, and nice to see our family so happy there.

Apr 21, 2017 - Cliffs of Moher (Near Doolin)

We had the thrill of seeing the Cliffs of Moher from a different perspective than from the top. This is one of my favorite places, and pictures do not do it justice. At the end of our day we started from the smaller edge, and moved along the cliffs. Again it was a beautiful day and the cliffs were very beautiful. https://www.cliffsofmoher.ie/

Apr 10, 2017 - This and That: GPO

Between our arrival and the John Prine concert, we did a few casual things. We had missed the GPO last time, so took a bus into Dublin to see and experience it. It was in the core of Dublin, so we also saw the HaPenny Bridge. The PUB was later in the week. Good food, good company. Walt's T shirt had been designed by a friend of Helen's, one of Mary's sisters. It was a fun evening.
