Baltimore’s most famous incident occurred in 1631 when Algerian pirates carried off 100 citizens as slaves. After breakfast we went round the Bandon River Estuary to the Yacht Club and from there walked up the hill to James Fort where we explored the ruins and admired the views. This fort is situated across the estuary from our cottage. We returned to Kinsale and waited for the harbour cruise boat. We enjoyed seeing the surroundings from a different viewpoint.
