Apr 30, 2017 - Gunung Inerie
Gunung Inerie. The big monster we climbed. Before I tell you how it was, I have a little advice. If you are not too fit,if you get tired after 10mins climb, if you know your feet aren't too stable, don't even try to climb it! I'm not saying I'm the most fit -especially after putting 5Kg or so on - but we do have lots and lots of experience hiking on mountains, volcanoes, so I do have that. Even though, I thought this was the toughest climb I've done. Let's start with the fact we left very late. Normally people are doing it for...Jump to full entry
Dec 3, 2009 - An amazing sacred volcano
When someone knoc the door I thought I was dreaming. It was really hard to get out the bed… 2 guys were waiting for us. There were 2 scooters, one for each. They drop us almost on the top ( we only had to walk 20 min ) The sun was rising when we arrived to the first 2 lakes. The view was really amazing. The colour of the lakes is indescribable. A mix of deep blue and green. We walked until the view point where we stayed around 1h30. There was the Holland guy ( our neighbor ;-) and a French guy. We decided to go back all together. The walk...Jump to full entry

We took a local bus from Larantuka to Maumere early in the morning and a car ( with 11 people inside !!! ) from Maumere to Moni. Once arrived to Moni, a man insisted to show us a place to stay even if we really wanted to go to a guest house we say on the LP we decided to check as it was already dark and we didn’t want to walk in the night with our backpack after a 7 hours journey. We saw a really basic and cheap room ( homestay). We hesitated ( we...Jump to full entry
We loved Moni, and after 3 days of morning bus journeys, thoroughly enjoyed stopping still for a few days! Moni is a beautiful village, surrounded by rice paddies and Kelimutu volcano, with hot springs and a beautiful waterfall - perfect! We spent lots of our time here at the waterfall, and Tara made some young local friends swimming under (and through!) it. We also took motorbikes up to see the multicoloured lakes at the top of Kelimutu: there are 3 of them, one turquoise, one black, and one brown. The 3 hour walk back down was tiring...Jump to full entry
