Mar 6, 2016 - Laatste dag

Mar 4, 2016 - Swastika Bungalows Sanur, Bali

Feb 17, 2015 - Up to penultimate day in Sanur

15th - went to the beach. We got the hotel shuttle. It dropped us off at the main strip. We walked along and the hassle...terrible. They wanted 150,000 rupiah for sunbeds, we don't want to pay that so continued saying no to all the offers of beds, massages, pedicures etc. Eventually, found beds for 60,000 rupiah so that's ok, around £3 for the day. It's pretty hot. I don't usually burn but I was a little pink later on. Walked back to the hotel around 4pm after collecting some stuff from Hardy's, a sort of departmental store, but not. We...

Jun 21, 2013 - Camp Splash Promo Shoot

After 6 hours in Darwin airport, we arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport. My cousins and auntie were there to greet me. Driving home I saw the new underpass at Simpung Siur - cool! Some corn beef and bread and then to bed. This morning, we went and had reflexi at Alum, I played with a friend, ate hot chips, pizza and fish pieces beside the pool. Highlight of the day was posing, playing and splashing with friends and my cousins in a promotional photo shoot. Baked beans for dinner, video and bed.

May 17, 2012 - Bali

BALI! I met Nick (volunteer in Solok) at the airport, as he was also going across to Bali a few days before the Conference and on the same return flights as me. He arrived about an hour before me, which meant his transport from Solok had left later than mine as Solok is closer to Padang than Muaro. My travel car picked me up at 0700, then proceeded to pick up another 2 passengers in Muaro, then off to the surrounding areas to complete the passenger pickups. Then we were off. In the car was a young girl who introduced herself as Anna,...

Apr 17, 2012 - Relaxed day at the Hyatt

- Slept in a bit and went down to a late breakfast - Looked through the guidebook and decided on what we wanted to do during the time Nana is here visiting- Decided to be in Sanur for two days, then go to Ubud for 3 nights, then Gili islands for 2 or 3 nights and then end in Sanur. - Went to the beach and relaxed / read. The ocean felt so refreshing and it was wonderful to sit in the shallow water and just enjoy how beautiful the scenery was around us. - Went to the pool in the afternoon so we could get something to eat. Ordered some...

Apr 16, 2012 - Nana visits Bali!

- Slept in and relaxed all morning - called Mankig (the driver Dianna and I had a couple days ago) to see if he could take me to pick up Nana at the airport later. - Checked out of hotel and drove to airport (one English girl from the hostel hitched a ride as she was leaving on a flight that afternoon) - On the way to the airport Mankig was joking about how much he was going to charge me for the ride. I actually am not sure whether he was joking or not. He was saying how he was going to charge me 300,000 rupiah for picking me up and taking...

Apr 13, 2012 - Last Day in Ubud and Back to Sanur

4.11.12- Becoming the Student - Went to Agung this morning and went through the process to become “his student” (which just means he would tell me some secrets about meditating and how to harness the body's energy) - There was a big basket of fruit, cakes, rice, and other foods that was my offering to the gods so I could be cleansed. We went though the whole chanting process and getting blessed with holy water that I've already done every time I've been here. Then Agung went about cleansing my three important chakras (heart, lung and...

Apr 1, 2012 - Getting to Bali

3.31.12- Hanoi to Bali - only slept 3 hours because I was up late packing and had to wake up at 5:20 to get picked up to go to the airport - was at the airport way too early because it only took about 7 minutes from the time I got to the airport to the time I got to the gate (was at the gate 2 full hours before the flight left). Kind of dozed in the waiting area until I got on the plane landed in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and quickly went through customs and got my luggage and checked in for my second flight - had time to get some food...

Mar 18, 2012 - Sanur, Sea and Sand. Back on the Beach Bali style

Hello all, We are in the sea-side town of Sanur. Apparently it was the original Bali resort before Kuta kicked off. It is definitely set up for tourists, I've never seen a mini-mart on the beach before, but it's not hard to get away from it all with a stroll down the beach front. The sea is clear but the sky over-cast as it's still the wet season. However we had a really clear day yesterday and believe me the clouds don't protect you from the sun as the lobsters (me included) will confirm. It's constantly 30+ here so the odd bit of rain is...
