India One More Time

December 5, 2013 Made it to Kohimia, Nagaland yesterday. I didn’t arrive until late. I tried several hotels. All were full. Just my luck. It was getting dark and the last hotel suggested that I try a travel agent. Why didn’t I think of that before? Dumbass. Sure enough a travel agent found me a place. It’s very expensive. It’s a room in a wedding hall owned by the Ao Tribe. What they have done is this; there is underground parking, the first floor is for dinning plus it has rooms for guests that are travelling a long distance for the...

Feb 19, 2006 - Over the mountains and though the woods to Kohima Village we go...

Yesterday we had a jam packed day after arriving late the previous night. We were supposed to meet at 7 AM and depart to the capital of Nagaland that is called Kohima. Since we arrived late the previous night (11:00) and went through immigration and other paperwork related stuff, then we met our new hosts, then had our 2nd dinner we finally got to sleep arouund 12:30 or 1:00 AM. As you can guess the start time was relaxed a little bit. We ended up all arriving at the deesignated meeting spot around 9:00 AM. Sara and Karin were not feeling...

Feb 18, 2006 - Enter the Naga's

The gang as it were is doing great. We took our first train last night and had a blast doing so. We took the train from Dullijan, Assam to Dimapur, Nagaland. We arrived around 11 PM headed to immigration, got some stuff stamped. Then we were taken to our new host families home. It's our last stop of the official rotary trip. Today we are driving to the capital (Kohima) of Nagaland, India. We hear from the locals that it's very contemporary. Can't wait to see it.
