Cachemire La vallée du Cachemire est située aux contreforts de l'Himalaya. Elle est souvent comparée à la Suisse pour ses lacs, montagnes, climat et végétation. Mit dem Jeep geht es weiter. Unterwegs ein platter Reifen und ein Haus steht in Flammen. Man kann nicht helfen, das Feuer nicht loeschen. Eine Gasflasche leckt und naehrt die Flammen. Es ist kein Wohnhaus sonder ein Gebaeude fuer religioese Zeremonien. Alles faellt den Flammen zu Opfer. Immerhin kein Personenschaden, vielleicht aber ein unglueckliches Omen. These are pictures from Leh India where I stayed for most of my Indian adventure. I found the Buddhist tempermant to my liking. The simple lifestyle also offered great appeal. Wir bleiben nur eine Nacht in Leh und brechen am naechsten Tag auf Richtung Westen nach Likir. Likir beherbergt die Klu-kkhyl Gompa. Auf einem Huegel in einem Seitental thront dieses Kloster seit dem 14. Jahrhundert. Das erste KLoster in Ladakh, welches von tibetanischen Moenschen errichtet wurde. Ausserhalb des Hauptgebaeudes sitzt eine 25m hohe Statue des Maitriya Buddha. Am naechsten Tag fahren wir weiter nach Yangtang. Yangtang ist fuer mich der Innbegriff einer Oase in der Wueste. Jul 30, 2005 - Korzok - Tso Moriri, Ladakh, India

Wir haben Glueck! Einmal im Monat faehrt ein lokaler Bus von Leh nach Korzok am Tso Moriri. Wir fahren nach Suedosten. Es ist eine angenehme Fahrt am Indus entlang. Es muss kein einziger Pass ueberquert werden. Aber jede Fahrt in Ladakh ist abenteuerlich. Die Strasse, ein Wunderwerk, ist vielleicht drei Meter breit. Mit bedrohlicher Schraeglage neigt sich der Bus Richtung Fluss. Man schaut aus dem Fenster, kann die Strasse nicht mehr ausmachen und sieht 50m unter sich das Flussbett. Aber wie heisst es so schoen in Indien? Don't panic!...

Mit einem absolut katastrophalen 'Deluxe Bus' fahren wir die Nacht hindurch weiter nach Vashisht. Es regnet die ganze Nacht hindurch. Die Scheiben des Buses sind alle gesprungen und das Dach ist leck. Zum guten Glueck ist der Bus aber nur halb voll, so dass alle Passagiere am Gang sitzen koennen. Wirklich trocken bleibt aber niemand. Nass und frierend erreichen wir Vashisht, wo wir den ganzen Tag damit verbringen unsere Kleider, Buecher etc. zu trocken. Now where did I leave off, oh yes Ladakh is a desert that only has 100mm of rain per year! Well they have had twice that in the last 36 hours. Both roads into Ladakh have been closed on the high passes due to heavy snow and all flights have been cancelled for the last 24 hours; so we are completely cut off from the outside world. We have now settled into life in Ladakh and found a comfortable guest house with views across the mountains and a wonderful vegetable garden.The first week has been spent acclimatising, drinking tea and meeting people. It is summer here in Leh and normally temperatures range from 20-24 celsius but this week it has been in the 30's making acclimatisation even more difficult. The hotel said try the bus terminal. The first travel agent said try the bus terminal too and the second said buses weren't running. Other bus travelers at the bus terminal knew what I was going through and they were much more informative. '1am' said the first one, '5:30am', '6am' said the others. The median was about 4am, so I got up at 3:15 and walked through the unlit streets of Leh and got there by 3:50am.
