Nov 11, 2005 - Delhi... again

The only way down that winding mountain path from Mcleod Ganj to Delhi was the 12 hour night bus. It was probably a good thing in the end that it was so pitch black that we couldn't see the bus narrowly miss the crumbling cliff edges to avoid oncoming cars. We sure felt it though and I think we spent more time in the air than on our seats. We travelled Monk Class (ie. Chris and I and 10 praying monks - we didn't ask why they were praying). They didn't speak English but were quite good at charades and their favourite one was roughly...

Nov 3, 2005 - Diwali in Delhi

Delhi went by pretty much in a flash. We arrived at 2am and were shuttled to our hotel by the Indian porter who was apparently more tired than us. Despite his minimal English we had to keep asking him banal questions and coughing loudly to try to keep him from falling asleep at the wheel. A few near misses with wandering cows and horn-happy drivers later we meandered through some dusty, hazy streets to our hotel. In reception we met a few disgruntled travellers and learned that our prepaid rooms had been given away to someone else 'because...

Oct 22, 2005 - Taj and Agra

Weather - Hot, sunny and polluted.. Location - Delhi for the next 2 months. Supposed to go to Shimla, but couldn't find a trainer, so ended up staying delhi for nex 2 months.. Delhi is not as chilled as Nepal, but still surprisingly modern and also quite expensive (a beer is ranges from 1-3.50 for a pint..) I'll never complain about london prices again.. Staying a easy part of Delhi - East Patel Nagar (no other westerners, but no real hassles) Taj was surprisingly quite enjoyable.. Went on a day trip by coach - lots of tourists - westerna...

Sep 20, 2005 - Retour a Delhi

Sep 11, 2005 - We've arrived .... in Delhi

Hiya! Well - I have a quick half hour before we leave to go and catch a train to Varanasi (one of India's holiest cities ... it is an overnight train which is going to be very interesting / exciting!! (Sorry Mr B - I did say Rishikesh - but you were overrulled by Mrs Kher here!!!) It was the overnight train being the main attraction!! Our flight from London left late and when we arrived here ... our pre-booked hotel car musta given up and gone home ... which made for an interesting start. Anyway, we hopped into one of the prepaid taxis and...

Aug 21, 2005 - INDE Delhi

Feb 28, 2005 - Delhi Dally

Well hello everyone! Here we are in Delhi, weaving our way between the narrow streets of the primarily Muslim Old Delhi, and coasting along the wide, tree-lined streets of the primarily Sikh and Hindu New Delhi. We are here, and we are fine, but, of course, not without some problems...it is India after all... The flight was uneventful for the most part, until the toilets stopped working. All of them. It was almost worth it to think of those people in Executive Class holding it along with the rest of us shmucks in the back, a common bond...

Apr 26, 2004 - On the way to New Delhi, India

I'm at the airport in Bangkok and on the way to New Delhi, India via Air India. This was one of the countries we knew we would be traveling to BUT we didn't know "when". I love India and am prepared for anything that I will encounter there. I am with a group even though we work as a team of two for our scavenges. My previous experiences have been solo traveling so I will manage this section very well.........I hope. I am just about finished with my story and photos of Bangkok, Thailand and hope to upload it tonight. FYI....It was very hot...
