Nov 29, 2008 - Colva via Mapusa & Margao

Left Calangute via bus about 5 to Margao but missed the stop at the bus station, not realizing the bus was going all the way into city center! Being now 7:30 and dark but seeing no tuk tuks we became a bit annoyed that it would require us to hire a taxi to go the 8 km to Colva(coastal town). Asking around the gas station we didn't see a bus drive in until a fellow pointed to it and said"That is going to Colva!" Oct 11, 2007 - Goan, goan, goan (a leetle bees knees sah)

Am now in Colva - hailed as much quiter than the Goan package tourism central of Calangute and Baga further north. Goa seems dissapointing in comparison to Varkala - or maybe i'm just in the wrong place. Being on your own is a bit of an oddity it seems - also not being middle aged or Indian is equally unusual. Being here makes me realise that it was probably what Varkala didn't have that made it so relaxing - an endless stream of Indian women on the beach selling sarongs and jewellery.
