Aug 8, 2007 - Arrival in Tuni

We're in sleeper class on the train - presumably we got the special midget section tickets. Wake with cramp. As the train speeds up the Coromandel coast i drift off again. Am awoken by a sharp clap of hands and a high pitched whoop very close to my face. Open eyes to find myself face to face (or probably more likely face to crotch) with four men dressed as women doing variations of the words "woo hoo" in my general direction. Close eyes and doing very bad impersonation of an asleep person whilst praying that they go away. For some reason...

A l'interieur, trois personnes dorment.

Jul 13, 2007 - Hyderabad - Kurnool (210km)

Mar 25, 2007 - India

Well, I don't even know where to begin with India, there is so much running through my head about it! I absolutely loved it, but in a completely different way than any other person, place or thing. It was very dirty, smelled terrible, and a lot of poverty, homeless people and beggars...you might wonder what there is to love about it; honestly I am too...but it was beautiful - but not in a pretty way! India was a total emotional roller coaster for me. It breaks your heart when your on the train and little boys are scrubbing the floor beneath...

Mar 11, 2007 - Hyderabad

Arrived in Hyderabad at about 9am and got caught by a Rickshaw driver. He, as they all do, wanted to take me to a hotel he knew. I really could not be bothered to look for myself so went with him. Fist stop was a hotel where the single room was in the cleaners cupboard. Just wide enough for the bed and long enough for the bed and to open the door. Tempting but no. Took me to another were he showed me a double and cost 250 rupees. Bit more than wanted to spend but none cheaper. Went to reception, signed the paperwork, the receptionist then...

Feb 4, 2007 - Exploring Hyderabad: Golconda Fort and Around

Laura: Hyderabad - another big city. Fortunately the air pollution doesn't seem as bad here as in Bangalore. Don't get me wrong, there is still blue smoke spewing out of the back of every rickshaw and our throats are sore, but somehow it isn't as bad. We are not sure why. There have been some really interesting sights here: the 900 year old fort, the 500 year old king's tombs and India's largest budda statue, but overriding this all, is the garbage. It takes so much away from the experience for me. I am admiring the stone carving on a...

Jan 4, 2007 - Hyderabad, Capital Of Andhra Pradesh

@@@@@@@ KAPOORS ON THE ROAD Our flight to Hyderabad was delayed over two hours, but fortunately we were able to call Kingfisher Airlines from the house and check on the status of the flight. This meant that we could wait comfortably at home instead of sitting in the departures terminal of the Nagpur airport. We made good use of the time by going to the internet office and catching up on emails and then having a relaxing cup of masala tea with Kamal and Manju's neighbour, Kiran. Once we arrived at the airport, things went very smoothly and...

Nov 14, 2006 - Hyderabad and the Buddha on the lake......

G'day all (namaste), well here we are on our last day in Hyders (as we locals call it) B is sipping a Cranberry Breezer and I'm going with the faithful Kingfisher lager...We're about to catch a bus to Bangalore so this will be a short entry but we've seen Golconda Fort at night - for the sound and light show - the buddha on the lake (at night so we don't notice the rubbish...) and many temples - oh and of course our conference on Strength based strategies...the food in Hyders has been great and we've been trying all sorts of Veg meals -...

Get It INDIA!

Jun 18, 2006 - Giggity.(Hyderabad)

Okie doke. So I'm actually in Bangalore right now. Just sat down for a brewskie in the nicest bar I've seen so far in India because there was no power in the internet place.....so excuse any potential misunderstandings. I spent the last 3 days in Hyderabad and I didn't have a chance to go on internet there....so I'll write about that.....and then on my last day here I'll write about here. yes. I guess I'll start from the train journey which is a whole 30 hour story in itself. We decided to take the lowest class coach with no AC because it...

Mar 13, 2006 - Bangalore -High Tech Capitol of India

Not much to say about Bangalore, other then that it is full of geeky looking IT types, just like you would find in any company at home. This is land of the "Outsourced" call center, and it showes...the internet cafe computers had all sorts of "restrictions" set up on them..."check with system administrator", really they are such control freaks IT Types are! Anyway, Bangalore is just a stop over on our way to the deeper south, beaches and better times we hope( we both have been struck with India fever, only it isn't out heads that are the...
