From Copan we launched off on a 12 hour travel day to get to Utila, a Carribean Island off the coast of Honduras. The trip sounds long and it sort of was...but it was fun, nonetheless, and with the prospect of ending up on a carribean island at the end of the day, really, anything is bearable!! We traveled most of the way on second rate buses with locals, which was quite fun and an adventure all it's own. Roatan is the largest, most well known and visited of the 3 main Honduras Bay Islands. It stretches almost 40 kilometres long but is only about 3 kilometres wide. The inlets and bays on the Southern shore first attracted European pirate and loggers and now attract divers. The northern shore is a combination of beaches and cliffs. It is the most popular destination for cruisers due to the number and variety of anchorages around the island as well as smaller islands and cays to explore.
