Dec 28, 2006 - HONDURAS - Utila

Got up early and got the first boat out of La Ceiba to Utila - I couldn't get out that place fast enough...the hostel was an absolute dive and the worst place I've stayed so far by a mile...there wasn't even a lock on the door...but I suppose you can't really complain at $3 a night! Another crazy taxi ride to the port - all 5 of us piled into the smallest car with our backpacks...and again the taxi driver demands "dos chicas" ride with him in the front (practically sitting on his lap) as 4 people can't possibly sit in the back!.. The boat...

Apr 11, 2005 - Diving in Roatan, Honduras

After enjoying many weeks of surf on the coast of El Salvador, we decided to hop on a plane and fly to Roatan, Honduras. It is a small island about 30 miles from the coast in the Caribbean Sea. Roatan sits on the same barrier reef as Belize, and is one of the world's top scuba diving sights. We fell in love with Roatan as soon as we arrived. The scenery, both above and below the water, is beautiful and the people were very friendly (They all soke both English and Spanish). The island had that laid back Caribbean feel to it. Lisy took this...

Dec 14, 2004 - Honduras - Bay Islands - Roatan

The Caribean Bay Islands ...nice but "A Place in the Sun" clearly only focuses on the best bits.... I don´t think we will be rushing to purchase! Plans to dive are scuppered by the weather (rainy season!) the snorkelling is Ok ....but not the same! We can now add head injury to the list of "Dodley incidents" -it would seem that islands and the lad are not a good combination, can´t even blame it on too much sun!!! Still not all bad....best Margarita of trip to date, still not as good a Mexico..will just have to keep sampling!!!

Jun 3, 2004 - Roatan

I had to fly here- I couldn´t bear getting on another bus. So I got a very expensive taxi to West End and then wnt straight to a dive shop to book in for some diving. THat was the bst thing I could do I think. I spent a week or so diving and hanging out in the dive shops. They always have pretty cool people there. This ws no exception and they even ran the sundowner bar in the off hours. Still I had a great week diving on great reefs with loads of fish and turtles- Yes just about every dive I saw a turtle- even the night dive.
