How to Build a Biosand Filter Adjacent to the residential area is the yard where Clean Water for Haiti builds filters. The Mission employs 17 Haitian workers at a good wage. First, heavy steel plates are welded together to make a tall rectangular box. A second smaller tall box is made that fits inside the first one. A lid is bolted on. May 23, 2010 - Psalm 60

Sunday, Day 5 Psalm 60 Today we went to church at the Caanan orphanage in Montrouis. There were about 30 children, mostly elementary and middle school ages plus a few babies and a few older boys and girls. As the children “age out” of their system they are apparently invited to stay with the orphanage where they work for room and board. The adoption process has slowed way down since the earthquake and since some rules have changed by some governing agency but a few children have been adopted out in the recent past. May 21, 2010 - Coffee, Kids, and Cows

Friday, Day 3 Coffee, Kids, and Cows ##photo=Sara and Rosie. Rosie roasted 70# of coffee for 3 days## I slept better last night. Closed the window closest to me so I couldn’t smell the smoldering garbage and used earplugs. Was up at 5 again and joined the staff and crew for morning prayers which they do together every day. Nobody sleeps in around here because it is too hot to work in the late afternoon.
