May 16, 2004 - Heading for the Islands

If we don't go back to Athens, we won't be disappointed. Although we didn't experience any of the rumoured air pollution, heat, traffic, etc. its still a big noisy city with little to recommend it except the ancient places. And they have good retsina (greek wine with a pine resin taste). Everyone smokes. Everywhere. Inside. Outside. Cough, cough. Greece May 2004

Apr 22, 2004 - Heraklion to Santorini

Arriving at Santorini at 4.00 pm, once again it was tender boats, this time with our luggage as Lorraine and I were disembarking, along with Vani. The rest of the group went on a tour of the Island whilst Lorraine and I caught a taxi from the port to our Hotel, the Arresana which was a 4 star luxury Hotel. After checking in, we walked downtown and then went to Francos Bar where we had arranged to meet the group at 7.00 pm, to view the sunset and say our farewells. Apr 19, 2004 - Greek Cruise - Athens to Mykonos

This morning our transfer man picked us up early for the trip to Piraeus to board our cruise boat, the Aegean I. We were shown to our cabin, a lovely outside one on A Deck and then given life-boat drill, as is the case in all cruises. We then had to assemble in the dining room to meet our table-mates. Our table was No. 12 and our waiter was Nikos. Our table mates turned out to be the most fabulous people you could meet.
