Apr 7, 2010 - Happy Birthday Victoria!

We rented a vespa (50cc) and took a return trip to Lindos to see the Acropolis and poke around some beaches. The bike did 70k at top speed, down to 40k uphill but it got us there. Two days ago we rented a car and circumnavigated the island probably 160km total, some very beautiful scenery. We're off to Santorini by ferry on the 7th, weather has been great and few tourists this time of year.

Apr 1, 2010 - If today is tuesday, this must be Rhodes

Pleasant ferry ride to Rhodes Greece. Medieval city is marvellous. Rented a car and in 8 hours (with frequent stops) we circumnavigated the island. Some fairly high mountains with great little villages, narrow winding streets. Some of the ruins we visited go back to 4000 BC. Just when you think you are tired of seeing ruins you find something that knocks your socks off either for its beautiful setting or the richness of its heritage.

Sure you swing and miss occasionally, but a bad local Cretan wine is still better than Pelee Island, and only cost 3 Euros. And most of the local Cretan...

Jun 8, 2007 - Rhodes

Well we arrived on the island of Rhodes and we were amazed with the beauty of the town which is actually called Rodos. The old part of the town is surrounded by a great wall and of course it is the place were the tourist go. When we got off the ferry it was only a matter of minutes when we were approached by a shady looking character wanting to show us his hotel. Well I figured nothing to lose so we tramped though the narrow cobblestone streets for about ten minutes and there it was, a somewhat shabby old stone building with a hotel sign...
