Jun 9, 2006 - The Near-Deserted Road to Nafplio

The road we've taken to Nafplio has been near-deserted - wonderful! - just us, mostly, and the odd farmer moving bails of hay and a campervan or two. After leaving Mystras and modern Sparta, we backtracked on a narrow secondary road to Geraki - and, although there were no signs, at a crossroads we guessed we'd found the road to Leonidio. Our narrow road has gently been climbing as it's snaked through the magnificent Parnonas mountains with wooded forests thick with pine trees.Kosmas comes as a complete surprise. Apr 9, 2006 - Epidavros - the side trip...

Woke up, did the breakfast thing and hit the road in my rental car! Today was the first rental car I've had since being on vacation. To my surprise, I actually have my driver's license with me...I thought I left it in storage as I had counted on not driving at all. Good thing I brought it - a car today was a great decision.
