During the night we sailed and docked in Wittenberg, so this morning we headed off for our tour of Wittenberg – and a heavy dose of Martin Luther. Prepare yourself. But first, a little touch on Wittenberg. It was chartered as a town in 1293. Two hundred years later with the rise to power of Frederick III (Frederick the Wise), Wittenberg had become a regional political and cultural center.
