8/29/14, Friday We only went a short distance today. First, we stopped in Passau, Germany. Located on the border of Germany and Austria, most of the old town is built on a peninsula with the Danube River on one side and the Inn River on the other. It was originally a Roman military base and city but became an important medieval city. The city is like a maze of very narrow streets. Passau is home to the Cathedral of St. Stephen (designed by an Italian architect). The predecessor church had been damaged by fire in 1662. So many of the Gothic...
