Sep 1, 2019 - More of the Schwarzwald

We all had a good night's sleep--Marsha and Marilyn were each given a separate room by Frau Kern--we had a nice breakfast and visited a bit with Frau Kern over coffee. We had decided a simpler day would be in order, rather than a two-hour drive each way to see Schloss Hohenzollern near Stuttgart. After a good night's rest with the air conditioning on, we met at 0830 for breakfast and to talk about what we have planned for today. Guess the jet lag is still working. After a nice breakfast of cold cuts, breads of different types, cheese, soft-boiled egg, orange juice and coffee, and lots of visiting with Frau Kern, we were ready for the day. Juergen asked that we spend the midday with him and his wife, Petra, at his house until Alexandra was off work. We drove through the fog for...

Nov 22, 2011 - Into the Schwarzwald

IMPORTANT NOTE: Duff is writing most of this, and we only half joke that he gets paid by the word. Be prepared for details, but rest assured that you are still only getting the bare details, as our experience has been and will continue to be full of far more. We slept like logs last night. This morning we felt pretty good, and had a light breakfast at the hotel, then started driving about 9 AM. The weather was good--mostly high overcast with sun breaks and in the 30s--no fog except a little in valleys. The road conditions were good. Duff...
