Somehow, it was not as intimidating driving out of Paris. Maybe I was just used to the idea that motorcycles could ignore the rules of the road, and go wherever they could fit; as fast as they wanted. We were on our way back to Lahr to see our Buddy Mike. He had been gracious enough to allow us to store some stuff at his place, and we needed to pick it up. He said that this time, his kids would be home, so we’d get to met them as well. Jul 28, 2009 - Around Lahr

Lahr is amazing. Its a lot like being home for me. I lived here from ’72-’74, grade 5-7, and then again from ’81-’86, when I was in the Airforce. The town has really changed. At its peak, this was home to some 5500 Canadian military- almost 10,000 including their family’s. The base closed in the 90’s, and most of the Canadian housing became low-rental apartments, and filled up mainly with Russians and East Germans when the wall came down. Jul 28, 2009 - Black Forest-Schwarzwald

Here are a few pictures of the beautiful Black Forest (Schwarzwald) . A bikers paradise. We are on our way to Villingen Schwenningen to meet our couch surfing hosts. Most of these roads still bear the scars of my center stand on the Kawasaki 750 I drove when I was young and foolish. I actually did add a couple of scuff marks with Barbie on the back of the Goldwing! I really appreciate her patience; these roads are definitely more fun for the driver than they are for the passenger. 28 July
