Aug 8, 2011 - One and Only Trip

The Saga Continues So I have not been writing (this time) because there has really been nothing to tell save for the various couches I have slept on in the interim. Many friends have been squiring around family and friends and have not been home. One tore a ligament in her knee and was shipped off to Thailand to get fixed so obviously I could not stay there. Suffice it to say, I now have another home, (my fourth in country) with the promise of at least one more move on the horizon as this new family I am staying with plans to go to Russia...

Oct 11, 2007 - On the Road to Hayastan

Hi there - When I said my next stop was a mystery I wasn't kidding. Plans for flying to Central Asia and the great Silk Road cities didn't work out due to sickness, visa difficulties and more. I, quite literally, didn't know what was next. I hearby rename this trip "The Magical Mystery Tour" So I went on to Istanbul to nurse my cold and cough. This is just one of the world's great cities. But this visit was a bit bittersweet since the last time I was here I was with my daughter and I missed her presence, especially on a return trip to...

Apr 13, 2005 - Paixao ortodoxa

Tblisi, Georgia Paixao ortodoxa.

Apr 12, 2005 - Stalin, Caves and Churches

Depart: Bakuriani, Georgia Arrive: Tblisi, Georgia Overnight: Morkinali Hotel - Our first stop on the way to Tblisi was Gori. Famous for being the birthplace of Josef Stalin. We took a tour of the fascinating museum which was led by a local woman who spoke very good English. The most striking item on display was a wooden mosaic of Stalin where different pieces of coloured wood had been painstakingly cut to represent the figure. We also got to see the inside of his plush personal train carriage which he used to travel to Potsdam - Stalin...
