Oct 22, 2006 - Bora Bora

Upon seeing the waters inside Bora Bora's protective coral reef, Doug said, ¨ I haven't even dreamed of that color green.¨ Bora Bora is absolute paradise. Life on Bora Bora is sheltred from the pounding Pacific by a huge, circular coral reef. This reef keeps the waters calm most days. This protected water is at times shades of green and blue in clear and pale hues, or, depending on the sun, tourquoise and teal. We never tired of watching the changing color and hue of the ocean. After rising in a fury of clouds most mornings, sun would...

On the Sunday we decide to take a DIY tour around the island in one of the 2 seater buggies taht are parked at Europcar opposiute the hotel. Bora Bora is only 18km in circumference and takes less tha an hour to go round. Weve also been given a map of top sites en route. First stop is a spot of dejauner at the Bloody Mary. This is Bora Bora's most famous restaurant frequently patronised by international movie stars, glamour people and now us. Unfortunately it shut for the French equivalent of a siesta. But outsdide are a list of all the...

Mar 11, 2006 - Island Hopping

Huahini: This is one of the French Tahitian islands. It is covered in fruit trees - mango (these grow on the trunk like brussel sprouts!), breadfruit, kiwi, bananas. We drove past vanilla plantations. Vanilla is a member of the orchid family and is grown trailing against supporting trees or is staked. Each individual flower has to be hand pollinated with a toothpick. No wonder real vanilla is so expensive. We also were introduced to the Noni Noni fruit. This is actually the ugli fruit and is picked, juiced and sent to the US for bottling....

Jan 18, 2006 - Bora Bora is Paradise!

For as long as we can remember, our ultimate dream destination in the world has always been Bora Bora. So far away, so unattainable, so evocative; and now all of a sudden - so REAL! Given the opportunity of a free stopover in the South Pacific - the choice was easy. So, with enormous expectations and brimming with anticipation, we swept in over the lagoon as our Air Tahiti flight approached the airfield. Probably the most exciting and memorable flight in our lives. Let us tell you - it is everything we ever dreamt it would be! It feels...

Apr 28, 2005 - Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is so idyllic that you feel you're in a tropical screensaver. The lagoon stretches out to the horizon where you can hear, but hardly see the waves crashing against the reef. Bora Bora's lagoon has 12 different shades of blue. The water is so clear that you can see brightly coloured fish 20 feet away. Its pocket-sized white beaches are big enough to not feel crowded. Bora Bora may also be exorbitantly expensive. The luxurious overwater bungalows were invented here. The rich and famous come here to relax. How can 2 budget...

Apr 18, 2005 - TAHITI - Bora Bora

Bora Bora conjures up tropical images of clear blue water, palm trees, polynesian feasts and in one word - PARADISE. Approaching by plane, the view even more spectacular than we imagined. The water REALLY IS that clear and blue... in fact, the water is so many different shades from deep blue to light green - Crayola would have a hard time naming all the shades! It's somewhere I have wanted to go since I was a little girl (mom and dad will attest to that!) so it was a dream come true coming in for the landing and seeing all of the hotels...
