We are in the Rhone valley heading towards region of Provence. We docked last night in Tournon. This is an important wine producing area known for its Shiraz grapes. Famous for red Hermitage and white Lamage and Chant-Alouette wines. Wines in France are named, not for the kind of grape, but for the area it is grown and produced. We started the morning with a lecture on France. We attended because the speaker was Christain who we had as a guide in Lyon and Perouges! He is very animated and not an arrogant Frenchman! Jul 3, 2008 - Our 4th of July weekend

Thursday we drove to Montpellier, France to see Patricia. We went about 6 hours to the quaint little town of Tain L’Hermitage, smack dab in wine country. Oh my gosh, it was so beautiful! It’s nestled in the hills on the Rhone River, with the vineyards going all the way to the hilltops. It is a huge tourist destination so our unplanned stop gave us a bit of a scare when the first hotel we stopped in was full.
