Sep 29, 2018 - D/J: HBR. Vieux Port, Cannes to HBR the Port of Antibes [D/J last day! :-( :-( ]

After breakfast, and no later than 11:00a.m. the three of us had to be off Milena, because the slip had to be vacated for Duty Free arrivals. This entire end of Vieux Port is designated to only the boats that are willing to be chartered (for the day, afternoon or whatever) by the participating commercial venders that make up the duty free convention. Anyhow, as we have been seeing awnings go up on the participating yachts, so we knew our time here was limited. At breakfast we discussed our plans for the day, When it was time to disembark,...

Sep 28, 2018 - D/J: Ste. Margueritte to Vieux Port, Cannes`

Good morning from the warm, sunny breakfast table in front of St. Margueritte. Such a wonderful, peaceful and beautiful place to begin any day. Along, of course, with a chocolate croissant and iced latte. (pic) . Jim was the first Up to breakfast this morning. He was commenting on just how beautiful the water was and contemplating an early morning swim. This, of course, I encouraged. I must have gotten thru, because Jim disappeared below, and re-emerged in his swimming suit. (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) Jim knew Diane would never join...

Sep 27, 2018 - D/J: St. Tropez to St. Marguerite (opposite Cannes)

After breakfast, we took a quick run around to a couple of shops before leaving. Diane found some long pants and some shorts, which I have now knic-named “St. Tropez blue”. Quickly scurrying back to Milena, and board, just in time...... the passerale now stowed, engines alive and raring to go, we pulled away from one of my most favorite spots and harbors in Europe. (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) ( pic) (pic) With grateful tears in my eyes, as I silently watched St. Tropez...

Sep 26, 2018 - D/J: St. Tropez. (Weather delay, wind: Beaufort 7)

Good Morning, from the inside of Milena in the salon, at the breakfast table. As Marina was busily preparing our breakfast, we were discussing our “weather delay, wind”, which is keeping us in the harbor until tomorrow. Definition: Beaufort 7; “near gale, 32-38mph winds”.... Yes, indeed, another shopping day in St,Tropez is the perfect way to spend a 24 hour wind delay. What a great place to be stuck we each thought, as we started to think about just what we were going to do with our bonus day. Ok, we mapped out our wish list, and areas of...

Sep 25, 2018 - D/J Saint-Tropez, FR

Good morning, from the sunshine deck of Milena. What a perfect day for us to shop and explore this adorable shoppers paradise. Starting out with breakfast expertly prepared by Marina .. with the piece de resistance fresh squeezed orange juice and of course, ending with a chocolate croissant. Wandering the tiny little streets filled with people and boutiques.... what a way to start a day. With Marina in the lead trying to return us to our favorite boutique: Ventillo’s. Excitement was welling up inside, as we were approaching Ventillo’s that...

Sep 24, 2018 - Diane/Jim arrive (Sep. 24 to Sep 30): Vieux Port, Cannes to Saint Tropez

Good morning. Diane and Jim are arriving this morning in Nice, on the 8:40am flight from Barcelona. Jacques has rented a med size Renault, and we were in our way from Cannes to Nice at 8:00am. This certainly did not feel like enough time to drive from Cannes to Nice..... but Jacques and Marina both , it is only 20-25 minutes, so this is plenty of time. What, of course, was not taking in account the time of day being rush hour, or any problems that could occur because of it. Well, problem we had. Due to the Regates Royales we had a very hard...

Sep 23, 2018 - HBR: Vieux Port, Cannes, France

For me, today was just a lazy day. Unlike the three. Musketeers lifting, dragging, toting, carrying, lifting, hoisting, pulling and scrambling to get everything done!! Jacques and Stephen made at least two trips to the store, and three trip to the garage. Marina was plowing her way thru the aft cabin, throwing cushions, coats, blankets, and suitcases behind her, as she could not enter the room. She was grumbling about the vacuum. She could not find it........ I told her it was probably under a mat, pillow or cushion. Yes, indeed, it was in...

Sep 22, 2018 - ILE Sainte Marguerite to HBR Vieux Port, Cannes, FR ( classic boats:Regatte Royales de Cannes. 9.22 to 9.29)

What a lovely spot to wake up to in the morning. My breakfast arrived in shifts. (pic) (pic) (pic). Just short of noon, Milena began her 1/2 cruise, very slowly (due to extremely shallow water). In the older days, Marina would be facing Sainte Marguerite, with her back to the bow. Jacques was her forward eyes, and she was her backward eyes. I was getting really excited to take this classic picture of Marina.... but she faced forward the whole time, and Jacques was looking back. In talking to Marina later, she said: “We do not have to do...

Sep 21, 2018 - Ile Sainte Marguerite, Cannes, France

Good Morning. I am very happy to report that the three muskiteers did not start moving until after 9:00a.m. this morning. After they awakened all felt better. Nine days of crossing at all hours of the night and day, does take a tole on functionality after a while. Today all looked rested — they deserved it. Milena did not move at all today. Chilling out at ILE Sainte Marguerite. (pic) All last night and today boats of all sizes are arriving in the bay of Cannes. On Monday, Sept . 22 - 29 the Royal Regatte of Cannes will be...

Sep 20, 2018 - CROSSING: Portoferraio, Elba, IT to opposite Vieux Port, Cannes, FR (3:00am to 11:55p.m.) LAST DAY OF SUCCESSFUL CROSSING!!

Our final day of 3:00a.m. departure times. Looking at our favorite, accurate wave, and wind Italian website: http://www.lamma.rete.toscana.it/mare/modelli/vento-mare.php We have nick named this website: “Millie Lama”, our very own private Dalai Lama, of the seas. According to “Millie Lama” we should go, go, go. There is bad weather coming up behind us, and bad weather infront of us after our arrival in Cannes. In other words today is THE day to go to Cannes. Through today, the weather is perfect, so once we leave Portoferraio, Elba, Italy...

Sep 7, 2018 - Gorgeous Gorges of the Vaucluse

Sept. 7/18 Last day of hiking in Provence, and it's another thigh burning , calf sculpting hill climb and descent! Yesterday morning's thundershowers have cleansed Provence, just as my clear fluid diet of black tea and rose wine have cleansed me and we are both bright and shiny and ready for walking. We climb up and over into the Senanque gorge, arriving at the Abbey de Senanque, a working monestery dating back to the 15th century. It is famous from nearly every published photographic collection of the Luberon of Provence because of it's...

Sep 6, 2018 - To Gordes - a castle and beyond

Sept. 5/18 Again tough to tear ourselves away from the relaxing little ochre coloured hacienda of a hotel in Roussillon today, but we were excited to be making our way to Gordes for 2 nights. Today starts off as a walk through classic Provence countryside of vineyards and orchards presided over by large impressive villas. I have picked out my property, but will require staff to take care of the vines. It's really tough to walk by the big luscious bunches of grapes and not reach over to sample a few, but I think that would be in bad form....
