May 15, 2009 - Last Day in Provence
The pizzas they made last night by the way were superb, Ross even managed to get the pizza oven fire going properly. Rainy day here in France, the first real one actually we have had along the way. So we all had a real sleep in, read books and Annelise made crepes for breakfast, yummy. Then Ross and I had to get out of the house away from the kids!! ...cabin fever, so went to another local village Entrecasteau, which has a castle. However, usual European story everything closed up till 2.30, so went back to our village salernes for a nice...

Cruised at home this morning, more reading! Before we headed off for our day to the local vineyards. First stop was Chateau du Thuerry, a lovely winery perched on a slight hill, the lady that did tastings for us was lovely and spoke great English. we tasted many of the local whites which where mailny semillon and rolle varieties and rose wines which they are into a lot of here in France. we also hoped to taste their bottle for blancs de blancs, but were not able to, and the lady was so nice and interested we were involved in the wine...

May 13, 2009 - Provence
The morning started with some exercise in the camp...dad took his girls on a training run, getting them prepared to walk the cinque terre. Then they were all back and into the pool clothes and all. After a nice breakfast al fresco it was all hands on deck to clean our poor car, that was brand new once. We then drove to Aups another local village and another local market, got our fresh fruit and veges and headed to lac du Verdon that is a gorgeous turquoise blue lake in a huge gorge. It was lovely and warm and we sat by the lake. The lake...

Another great day and sleep in, it will be hard for the children to go back to school wake ups in the mornings, we are rally into the European way of life with dining late and late starts. However, we got on the road by 11 to drive off to St Tropez, said on our trusty Tom Tom only 70km to the coast, but what a hellova windy road! Got to gorgeous St Tropez, tried to find a beach to have our standard baguette cheese and salami lunch at, but were hard to find. I found one that was 20 euro ($50NZ) to sit on a deck chair on, so moved on pretty...

May 9, 2009 - Begur to Salernes Provence
We were well impressed with the children, were all up showered, packed and bags downstairs by 8, ready to get on the road. But wouldn't you know it, Spanish time, there was no one at the hotel to check out or for our breakfast, until 9. So after a yummy breakfast of toasted baguettes and hot chocolates, we hit the road to Figueres. Figueres is the birthplace and resting place of the famous artist Salvador Dali....wow. What an eye opener, thanks Heather Kohn for the recomendation. we went through his museum, unbelievable works of art, he...
