Jun 17, 2012 - First stop: home in St. Paul

After leaving Doha for the last time (....for now anyway...never say never! ), I arrived to Nice airport on a gloriously beautiful sunny day....flying over the Alps and along the Mediterranean coast which for me is stunningly beautiful....home! But just for a day. Michele greeted me at the airport with my 4 bags, and 8 boxes to follow! May 29, 2011 - St. Paul de Vence

Our last day before returning to Paris for Part2 of our trip and I think we have found the most picturesque and quaint village of the all. St. Paul de Vence is one of the most visited places in France. we are here on a Sunday morning so it isn't too crowded. Also it is their Mother's day so I think this afternoon will be very crowded. This small town is filled with artistic works and paintings. Very hilly but as you climb the hills there are more shops and more picturesque views with every turn. It really was the perfect way to end this trip.

Walked to the beautiful cemetary overlooking the Med, to pay my respects at the tomb of Marc Chagall. Strolled around the ramparts with views over a landscape of cypress trees, red roofed villas, palm...

This was a special day spent in St. Paul de Vence. Our first stop was the well known Foundation Maeght, a private modern art museum. It was just wonderful! A sweeping lawn laced with amusing sculptures greeted us. Inside we admired many works by Miro, Chagall, Braque and Giacometti, among many others. We then walked the pedestrian-only town and ate our picnic lunch. The town was very quaint and clean with many high-end shops, galleries and inviting restaurants. We stopped at the foot of the town by the petanque courts for cool drinks and...
