We drag our suitcases up and down the stairs of the Paris Metro in the middle of the afternoon. This is an overnight stay on the way to Nice. It’s a risky day to arrive in Paris. Over one million workers are striking over the increase in the retirement age from 65 to 67. We are uncertain of what services will be available in the city. Fortunately, when we arrive at Gare du Nord, the Metro is running. Popping out at street level, we can hear the loud noise of the demonstration. Oct 10, 2007 - A trip to St. Agnes...and French greetings
It was going to be a day across the Italian border, but we got a late start and instead headed up the mountains to the town of St. Agnes, designated by the Bureau of Tourism as one of France's most beautiful villages. The drive was very scenic but at times hair-raising. Some parts of the road were one lane with two way traffic and at two different points we encountered large buses. We had to back down the road in reverse until we found a shoulder so we could get out of the way and let the buses go by...mon Dieu! We finally made it to St....
