Sep 18, 2007 - Visiting the "Venice of Provence"

We drove west via the coast highway to Port Grimaud. This is a "new" town (built about 40 years ago - a rarity in France). It features many canals and is called "the Venice of Provence". We took a 20 minute boat ride around the city which took us past many large yachts and sailboats. We ate our picnic lunch on the square by the petanque courts...we are getting to be aficionados of this very Provencal sport! We then went to St. Tropez which failed to impress. Yes, there are gigantic yachts there, but also much congestion and it didn't look...
