Jul 8, 2014 - Arrived in Les Sables D,Olonne yesterday.

Yesterday we had a fabulous trip here . Firtly we saw a small pod of dolphins and they swam around the boat right next to us and secondly I caught our first fish. It wasn't a very pretty one but after 40 days at least we have proved that our new reels do actually work. It was a Garfish which is like an eel and this one was about 2 feet long with a long pointed beak. We didn't fancy boning that so we let him go. When we arrived at Les Sables we weren't expecting to like it as much as we do. There is a gorgeous beach and some nice restaurants...

Jul 6, 2014 - Day off in Ile D,Yeu

Yesterday we had a lovely day cycling along the coast of the island which is only 6 km x3 km. rain was forecast for most of the day but we only got drenched in the last couple of miles. Lots to see and no cars. Everyone is on bikes and it's very undeveloped. We found a cafe at 3 ish and had to suffer a gorgeous French desert with a local Affligem beer for lunch! Lots of lovely cottages with pretty gardens and so many fir trees that it smells of Christmas everywhere. In the evening we went into a lively bar with a band and a great...

Jul 6, 2014 - Day off in Ile D Yeu

The sine was out today so a much better day for cycling around and sitting on the beach. The marina became a lot more crowded as a sailing fleet of 22 yachts arrived . We couldn't have left even if we had wanted to. Getting ready to leave tomorrow if the weather hold out.

Jul 5, 2014 - Arrival in Ile D,Yeu

We have arrived here in Ile D,Yeu after a lovely 6 hr sail. The wind was fairly light at below 16 knots and the waves were around .5 metre so the forecast was correct and we arrived just before the front started to blow in. Getting onto the mooring was the only tricky bit and let's just say we met all our neighbours as they came to help stop us being blown sideways plus collision avoidance. I think we need a whip round for a bough thruster if we do this trip again because everyone else seems to have one and it would be so less stressful for...

Jul 3, 2014 - Day off in Pornic

Today the maximum temperature inside the boat reached 93 degrees which is no surprise. It was as hot as yesterday so we spent most of the day visiting the local market and then went to the beach. The walk along the marina and around the harbour to the town is really pretty and there is a lovely chateaux overlooking the end of the harbour. The French children are now officially on their school holidays so we are expecting things to get a lot busier and of course the prices for an overnight mooring have gone up. We hope all our friends from...

Jul 2, 2014 - arrival in Pornic

A lovely day to be out on the water.a light breeze up to around 12 knots and. Calm sea and lots of sun. We had planned to head for Pornichet which would have been about 3 hrs from Piriac but the sailing was so lovely we continued another 15 miles down to Piriac. It is lovely here and quite a lot to do so we may stay a few days. Probably chilly out on the beach tomorrow which people are still using at 8pm tonight because it is still so warm. We hope it will be the same again tomorrow. The weekend looks bleaker with rain forecast so we need...
