Aug 25, 2014 - Arriving at Gosport.

We spent 2 nights at Yarmouth and spent our day off on dry land having lunch in Yarmouth Sailing Club and visiting Osbourne House where Quenn Victoria and Prince Albert Had their family holidays. The following day we left at 8 am with a bit if difficulty as we were hemmed in on all sides by other boats that were reluctant to move. We had a very leisurely sail up to the Folley Inn close to Cowes where we had lunch and a lovely walk along the river, then we sailed back past Cowes and down the Solent to Gosport. After all our lengthy and quite...

Aug 23, 2014 - Not quite back on the English mainland yet

We had a very feisty sail from Jersey to Aldernay on 20th. It seemed like even the boat was in a hurry to get that trip over. It took about 7 hours with a good current pushing us along for most of it and then the Aldrnay race was quite well behaved and we were able to get into the harbour with only a small current against us. Unfortunately there were no buoys available in the shelter of the breakwater and we took the last available one in a very exposed area. We didn't have the energy to go ashore so cleared out the fridge and later on had...

Aug 19, 2014 - Resting up in Jersey

Yesterday we had a fab day in the sun. It was also nice to have a choice of English fodder and to understand all the lingo. It's raining today but will be quite dry in the war tunnels! Tonight we will be preparing to leave for Aldernay tomorrow and then possibly on to Yarmouth on Thursday. We are almost home and are looking forward to seeing all our friends and family. Only a few hundred photos to show everyone!

Aug 17, 2014 - Left Roscoff this morning at 8 am

We set off from Roscoff with rain threatening and wind forecast for up to 23 knots. Not too bad a journey for the first 4 hours as we had a really good current helping us along under sail . At the point where we were supposed to turn in to Lezardrieux we made a last minute decision to head on to Jersey and hope conditions remained as forecast. It was just another 7 or 8 hours to go ! We remained dry until the last hour or so but the wind didn't remain as forecast and increased up to 30 knots so quite a lumpy and wallowy journey with the...

Aug 16, 2014 - Arrived in Roscoff today

We left at 8 am and had a cracking journey because we had a good current pushing us along under sail. A bit lumpy but the sun and loads of dolphins kept us amused. We had to motor some of the way when the wind died but sunbathing on the way was lovely. Roscoff town is really nice with a lot of historic buildings . The new Queen Mary Stuart landed here aged 6 in the early 16 the century . It's a shame there is only an old doorway and a pizzeria named after her to remind us of that.
