Jun 6, 2012 - To Sartene in southern Corsica

We leave and drive through the mountains to southern Corsica. Still not sure what people do for a living - so far we have seen little industry or agriculture. Part of the way we follow the coast. Great beaches and not too crowded. Magnificent scenery, forests and mountains – the roads not as treacherous as our first days driving. We arrive at our destination at Sartene. A walk up to the village – the narrow lanes quite steep and the village very old. Many of the buildings built on rocks. Nice to just sit and people watch in the square...

May 18, 2011 - Classic Journeys Corsica - Sartene and Campomoro, Menhirs (Stantari) and Dolmen

Entry #5 May 18, 2011 Our van drove us into the heart of Corsica from the coast where we stopped in the town of Sartene and met the mayor who is a good friend of Luciano. Our next stop was a tower, Campomoro, which was part of the defenses of the island. We had a commanding view of the sea from the top of this tower that was situated on a hill. We drove more inland and in the afternoon walked to the site of the Menhirs (Stantari) which are stone figures in the genre of Stonehenge.
