After a rainy stay in Nice we had a good amount of driving to do before we found (remarkably easily) our campsite on an island in the river Rhone, we were in Avignon at the heart of Provence. One of a hand full of towns left in France that are still enclosed by the medieval walls, we found Avignon to be a cute little city with a provincial feel. The people were extremely friendly and the food was outstanding. Our favourite French red wine was from Avignon, Chateau Du Pape.
