Day's Overview A challenging Day. Our MOST challenging day to date. Left in Ok weather. Started to rain. At 2 hrs in a serious front came through and it started to lightly hail. As we climbed to over 2000m it turned to snow. We then climbed along a high mountain ridge for 4 hrs with steep drops either side and wind and snow. It was slippery and rocky and challenging to climb at times with tricky manoeuvres that required Ottley hand and foot holds. In fact it was mostly tricky! Sep 8, 2017 - Day 19 GR10 Auzat to Plateau de Beille Nordic village

Day's Overview A mixture of walking and taxi today. This was to cover the distance we need to go to get to the next accommodation. Taxi driver collected us and kept us amused with bear stories etc as he drove us the 45min up a narrow mountain road to drop off point, Pont de Coudène. We then steadily climbed up steeply for the next 1.5hrs through forest with the occasional views of wonderful high mountain scenery. Eventually came out onto a Plateau with grazing sheep and horses. Sep 7, 2017 - Day 18 GR10 Refuge des Étangs de Bassiès to Auzat

Day's Overview Again we have gone off route to cope with another section of no accommodation. But only a tiny bit today. There was an icy wind when we left today but the low cloud was starting to lift. The chain of lakes were stunning. Saw some 'Orries', old stone Shepard dwellings with grass on the roof. Looked like something from the Flintstones As did the precarious looking bridge that we went over later. All made from stone slabs and not a piece of timber in sight. Eek!
