May 2, 2006 - Upper Languedoc

Stopped in Vienne for a real french lunch before we left France. Beautiful cooked gigot of lamb with beans. Fromage blanc for pudding. Sat in the sun with a glass of wine. Drove Fritz through a tiny and gorgeous medieval town happily called Joyeux, with the narrowest of streets - we didn't even have to fold the mirrors in. We stayed in an almost closed campground near Villefort in the Upper Languedoc (a southern extension of the massif central) on the edge of a lake. Really beautiful. Apr 21, 2006 - Mont Aigoual and the Cevennes

This was to be the day I was to climb Mont Aigoual, from where you can see almost a third of France, including the Alps. It's just shy of 1500m but unfortunately due to the conditions I only made it up the two Cols of the Cevennes National Park, both at about 1350m. I've included a picture of the view of the Mont from the first Col. As you can see visibility was zero.
