Mar 11, 2013 - here she comes

After a quick break to overcome the jet lag in the UK with Brett and Selina, it was down to business and see if we can get Tobchi out of cobwebs and back onto the water. She looked rather forlorn sitting under her indoor rain jacket but once the plastic was off, she didn't look much different from 2 and a half years ago. The mechanics and electricians had done a fair job of messing up my engine room, but otherwise i think we can do something. With the lack of power inside the shed, we had a grand entrance out into the sunlight and a trip...

Sep 24, 2012 - The Camargue

After an amazing lunch at one of the top hotels in Arles we ventured into The Camargue wetland area on a jeep tour. The camargue is a national park and protected area where most of the rice used within France is grown and harvested. We witnessed pink flamingoes, wild bulls and white horses. After our 3hr tour we were wind blown and dusty so we headed for a grande beer,which went down very well.

Sep 23, 2012 - Arles

Today is a free day and we have decided to give our driver Dianne and our van time out. A massage was called for. Most ladies did the petite train ride (which seems to be in every town) which narrates history and saves the feet. Only few souvenir shops open today as Sunday is the day all shops close but sites open to view.

Sep 22, 2012 - Arles

We have arrived in Arles in the Provence region. Unfortunately we have missed the season of seeing all the lavender fields but it is still a lovely drive through fields with a chateau here or there. If anyone has been to these medieval locations throughout most of Europe you will fully understand why most drive little tiny bug like cars and in France the 2cv are still popular. Trying to drive our large van down a road only big enough for 1 car with cobblestones twists and turns we had a slight run in with a brick wall which has been sitting...

Jan 28, 2011 - Arles

I'm not going to say about about our excursion to Arles and Saints Maries de la Mer, but there are photos to explain for me! I didn't take many photos in Saints Maries de la Mer because by that time, I was so sick of the freezing wind that I didn't want to pull my hands out of my pocket, except to adjust the scarf covering my entire face.
