Apr 24, 2018 - More Lazing Around

It was another rest day for the three of us. I awoke around 5:30am with a sore throat so gargled with salt water, took two Aleve, and slept some more. We all shared a late breakfast and made a plan for Wednesday and Saturday. We walked into the village to buy groceries for the next few days, made reservations for a visit to Reims and Mumm champagne for a tour and tasting, attended a hosted reception for those in residence this week, talked with our neighbors who are from Manchester, England, and made dinner together in our townhouse. We had...

Apr 23, 2018 - Lazing Around

After 8 days of making sure I got up on time to catch the Eurostar, a train or a tour I finally was able to sleep in this morning. It was marvelous! I had a leisurely morning and tracked the arrival of Air France 83 that brought Steph and Dennis to join in the fun. While they left SFO late, they arrived CDG on time. We caught up, they relaxed, Dennis and I explored the property, and I learned more about the Marriott program from Colin (who also tried to sell me a week here in France) and then we walked about a half mile into the village and...

Apr 22, 2018 - Travel Day

Today was spent primarily traveling from Les Pouleries to Marne La-Valée where the Marriott timeshare is located. Betty and Pierre drove me to the train station in Limoges which is about 45 minutes from their home. The bus left on time and one hour later we arrived in the tiny train station in Le Dorat, which was closed since it was Sunday. Like when attending a fancy dinner, I watched what those with knowledge did, and followed their lead, including validating my ticket in the machine by the door to the station. Once aboard it was an hour...

Mar 7, 2008 - When you wish upon a star......

Makes no difference who you are... After returning to Paris for 3 days, it is fair to say that the magic of Disney was a little slow kicking in for us, though we got there in the end. Returning to Paris was nice, and we still didn't see everything we wanted to. We did go to the Louvre and the Musee de Cluny and to the Grande Arche and for a stroll along the Champs Elysees and returned to our previous stamping ground of Montmartre to eat and sleep. This was all good, but for Soph and George it was only a prelude to the real purpose of the...

Nov 8, 2007 - Disneyland Resort Paris

On the 7th, I caught the highspeed Eurostar from London to Disneyland Resort Paris. The train was full of British families going to Paris for the weekend. From London Waterloo station to Marne La Vallee at the gates of Disneyland took 2.5 hours with 20 minutes inside the Channel Tunnel. Arrived at the station to see armed French soldiers wandering around between the Park gates and shuttle-bus zone. Automatic weapons are about the last thing I expected to see at Disneyland. Somehow it just doesn't seem to fit. Checked into the Hotel Sante...
