In the morning we took Daisy for her tapeworm treatment ready for crossing back to the UK on Thursday. After that we decided to explore the inland town of Eu. Dominating the small town is the former royal palace which dates back to the 16th century. Prior to the palace there was a castle where William, Duke of Normandy, the future William the Conqueror and King of England was married in 1050 and in 1430, Joan of Arc as a prisoner of the English spent a night there, during her journey to Rouen. Oct 15, 2010 - Ville d'Eu

It is the wee hours of the morning (2 am), and I am sitting with my laptop in the corridor of the youth hostel in Eu, Normandy (just east of Dieppe). Unfortunately, I can't get internet connection in our room, so I’m sitting on a hard bench in the silent hallway downstairs, while Kirianne sleeps upstairs. This hostel is interesting – it’s the former kitchen outbuilding for the huge chateau of Eu, residence of the Dukes of Normandy (and later kings), built some 500 years ago!
