Bonjour encour mes cheres amis: Our last stop in France is Reims, smack dab in the middle of Champagne region. ... The actual vineyards are some kilometres away from the town of Reims itself where all the big champagne houses are. ... The other item of interest in Reims is the Cathedral Notre Dame, not to be confused with the one in Paris but most certainly her little sister. ... On our travels through the town we sought out the parks along the canal and river banks for a little serenity and shade and were very impressed with the locks system in Reims as well as many of the other cities we visited including most notably Padua and hte Brenta canal. ...

Jul 9, 2009 - Reims - Leaving for the French Countryside

We woke up bright and shiny Grampa forgot to change his watch and got us up at 6 so we could leave by 9. Fields of Fava Beans, wheat, and sunflowers whizzed by as we made our way to Reims (pronounced France without the F). ... Once in Reims we were beat so we started looking for a hotel. ... We never thought about it but the girls were shocked that we hadn't reserved a spot and were a little worried that we might not find a hotel.We woke up bright and shiny Grampa forgot to change his watch and got us up at 6 so we could leave by 9.
