We headed north towards Paris and stopped in Bill Chevannes, near Nevers to stay with a high school friend of my mothers, Ellen. In the summers she lives in a gorgeous old chateau called Dumphlun. It's pretty amazing and huge and Ellen and her family were so gracious and kind. Ellen took us into Nevers one day for some sightseeing. They have a convent where they have the miracuously preserved body of St. Bernadette on display. St. Bernadette was a young lady who saw the Virgin Mary 18 times in a grotto in Lourdes. We also saw a church there...
