Today we went by Bus to see the Cluny Abby. When it was built in the 12th Century and was almost 2 football fields long (555 feet), and five huge naves. The whole complex of the church plus the monastery covered 25 acres. Most of it was destroyed in the French Revolution and only about 10% is still standing today. Have a look at the footprint photo.
